Aliante event's de`bow' a success
Last weekend's inaugural Trails & Tails event at the Aliante master-planned community in North Las Vegas was deemed a success. There were more than 500 participants in the 5k run and Doggie Stroll events, in addition to several hundred spectators, marketing manager Kimiko Peterson said. The event, a benefit for Lied Animal Shelter, raised more than $6,500 and resulted in the adoption of many dogs, she said. "As Aliante grows in size and popularity, so does the scope of our community events. We were thrilled with the turnout we had and the public's enthusiasm for helping such a worthwhile organization as Lied Animal Shelter," she said. The 5k run traveled along the recently completed first phase of the community's trail system, while the Doggie Stroll and a one-quarter-mile kids' run were held in the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park. The park also was the site of pet adoptions and family-oriented activities. Aliante is a development of North Valley Enterprises, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb Corp. Encompassing 1,905 acres, the community has primary and age-qualified villages, which will have as many as 7,500 homes. D.R. Horton, KB Home, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes are building homes in the primary village, while Del Webb is building the age-qualified Sun City Aliante. Homes are priced from the $160,000s to the high $400,000s. Nearly one-fourth of the community is designated for recreational and public purposes including the public Aliante Golf Club, three parks and an arroyo. Plans call for two elementary schools, a middle school and a fire station, as well as 100 acres of commercial development. To visit the community, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit then go south.
