Pardee home tours raise funds for HomeAid

Public tours of Pardee's Ultimate Family Home at Nevada Trails generated thousands of dollars for a local charity.

HomeAid Southern Nevada, which provides transitional housing for the temporarily homeless, received $10,000 from tour admission fees.

Pardee executive Klif Andrews serves on the nonprofit agency's board of directors.

"Pardee has been a major supporter of HomeAid in Southern California, and we welcome the opportunity to be part of the team in this area," Andrews said.

HomeAid debuted locally at this year's International Builders' Show in Las Vegas, as did the Ultimate Family Home.

The 5,300-square-foot showcase residence features four bedrooms and 5 1/2 baths, and uses zero energy, meaning that it is capable of producing as much electricity as it uses, resulting in energy savings of about 90 percent compared to a similar home built to code.

Construction of the home also kicked off Pardee's participation in the Department of Energy's Zero Energy Home program.

Energy-saving technologies featured in the show home are being incorporated into the new neighborhoods of Palo Verde and Mesquite in Nevada Trails.

To visit, take Interstate 215 to Rainbow Boulevard, go one mile south to Robindale Road and turn right.
