Sun City Aliante `right' for couple
From New York to Las Vegas, elevator mechanic Lance Gordon feels he made the "right move" by purchasing a new home at Sun City Aliante, an age-qualified community in North Las Vegas. "My wife and I got married on Christmas Eve 1967 right before I went to Vietnam. When I returned from duty, I worked in New York City at the World Trade Center as an elevator mechanic. Then we moved to Florida for a while and then moved cross-country to California," he said. "My wife and I decided to move to Las Vegas because we love that it's a 24/7 town. We spent many an anniversary here, enjoying the holiday atmosphere on the Strip," Gordon said. "People don't know, however, that Vegas is not just the Strip. Summerlin, Green Valley, Centennial Hills have so much to offer. We call Sun City Aliante the `new North Las Vegas' because Del Webb has truly transformed this area. "Once we found the Primrose model, we decided to up and move from California," he said. The 1,424-square-foot design has three bedrooms, two baths, a great room, two-car garage, and optional covered patio. Two elevation options are available. Six additional single-story designs are available, ranging from 1,155 to 2,105 square feet and priced from the high $270,000s to the high $390,000s. All homes have the builder's Environments For Living technology, which includes energy-saving features such as low-e windows and cocoon insulation. In addition to being recognized as Energy Star homes by the Environmental Protection Agency, they offer a three-year heating and cooling energy-use guarantee. Sun City Aliante is the age-qualified component of the Aliante master-planned community. In their free time, the Gordons enjoy spending time with their new friends and neighbors. "My wife, Elaine, is a mah-jongg nut. I prefer sports, softball in particular, as well as poker. All of us here at Sun City Aliante look forward to our community center opening," Gordon said. The community's tennis and bocce courts are open. A recreation center, swimming pool, fitness center, and club and hobby rooms are planned. The public Aliante Golf Club offers an 18-hole, 6,900-yard, par-72 course. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit then go north. The sales office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
