Marvin Sowards and Patty Shaffer sought a home away from excessive activity, and found it within the Solera at Stallion Mountain age-qualified community in the southeastern Las Vegas Valley.
"We looked at a lot of different homes, but we quickly narrowed it down to age-qualified communities," Sowards said. "We loved Sun City Anthem, but then we saw Solera at Stallion Mountain, and we were equally impressed. The homes are beautiful and the eastside location is very convenient for us.

"I also like the landscaping and everything they have done around the Solera community. It has a very clean look and the amenities are something I have never had before."
Set within the guard-gated Stallion Mountain Country Club, five single-story floor plans are available, ranging from 1,155 to 1,716 square feet. Prices start from the $230,000s.
A tour of the models finalized the couple's decision. The Sowards picked the 1,155-square-foot Morgan floor plan, with two bedrooms and two baths.
"One of the deciding factors for me was the Morgan had a deeper garage. It was 2 feet longer than the others," he said. "I have a fairly large pickup truck and I work in my garage a lot, so having the extra space is wonderful. That, combined with the fine details in the home, and the fact that it is so peaceful out here, made this the perfect choice for us."
Shaffer praised the home's storage space.
"One of the things I liked was that the kitchen was really large and it had a lot of cabinet space," she said.
Solera at Stallion Mountain features a 10,000-square-foot recreation center with a fitness area, a separate room for aerobics, a billiards room with card tables, a board room, conference and meeting space or banquet area, hobby room, pool, spa, tennis, and bocce courts.
The Stallion Mountain Country Club is a private golf course facility offering three full-private golf membership plans designed to appeal to both novice and avid golfers.
Each home is constructed with Environments for Living building technology, making them 30 percent more energy efficient than even Energy Star-certified homes.
To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Flamingo Road, go east past Nellis Boulevard, to the entrance of Stallion Mountain Country Club. The security officer at the guard-gate will direct visitors toward the model homes.
