Summerlin sets sales record
The master-planned community of Summerlin recorded the highest sales figure in its 10-year history during the week of Feb. 24 with 94 new-home sales, according to Stew Gibbons, executive vice president of The Howard Hughes Corp. "New-home sales are presently more than 33 percent ahead of 2000 sales at the same time last year," Gibbons said. "Record sales continue to mark Summerlin's ongoing success. Just when we think Summerlin can't possibly outdo itself in terms of sales, the community reaches another milestone." Gibbons credits the rise to three factors: the community's geographic location, the depth of its social infrastructure, and the range of available homes and included amenities. He also cited the community's two Tournament Players Club golf courses and the world's first Jack Nicklaus Bear's Best golf course. Clubs, special interest groups and social events for community residents are planned by the Summerlin Council, the nonprofit arm of the Summerlin Community Association. Available properties include entry-level townhomes, condominiums, single-family homes and multi-million-dollar custom homes. Prices range from $100,000 to more than $700,000, while custom lots from one-quarter acre to three-quarters of an acre are priced from under $100,000 to more than $1 million. Predesigned custom homes are also available, priced from $500,000 to more than $1 million, while monthly rents for apartment homes start from the $700s. One-third of the community's total acreage is dedicated to open space. Twelve major parks and more than 45 neighborhood parks are featured, as well as 45 completed miles of the trail system. The community is also home to 16 schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, business parks and medical centers. To visit the home finding center, travel west on Sahara Avenue past Hualapai Way to Town Center Drive. Or, take Interstate 215 and exit at Sahara. The office is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
