The Aliante master-planned community will kick off its 2007 outdoor event schedule today with a first annual St. Patrick's Day chili cook-off today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, at 2627 Nature Park Drive, near the southeast corner of Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, and Aliante Parkway.
The public is invited to watch and participate in the voting as firefighters, builders and other community-based companies and organizations compete for the title of Best Chili and Best Themed Booth.

Participants include AAA, Aliante Golf Club, American Nevada Co., Astoria Homes, Boy Scouts of America, Citibank, Colonial Bank, Las Vegas Family Magazine, North Las Vegas Fire Station 56, Pulte Homes and Southwest Airlines.
Competitors will provide sample tastes of their chili. Guests to the event can vote in the People's Choice award.
Aliante will serve free, full-sized bowls of chili and corn muffins at a non-competitive booth.
A local chaper Boy Scout fundraiser booth will sell hot dogs and drinks and Ben & Jerry's ice cream.
Music and entertainment will be provided by DJ Tony and festivities include a bounce house, face-painting, balloon artists and more.

To reach Nature Discovery Park take U.S. Highway 95 to Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, exit east. Head east on I-215 and exit at Aliante Parkway, then proceed south.
