Nevada Energy Star Partners, a coalition of builders, developers, consultants and utility companies, has been an Energy Star partner since 2000.

The group will be honored for its long-term commitment to energy efficiency. Energy Star, the national U.S. government symbol for energy efficiency, was created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency originally for energy-conserving computers in 1992 and is now jointly implemented with the U.S. Department of Eneregy.

Since its origins, the program has been expanded to include over 40 product categories that conserve energy and protect the environment. Across the U.S., top companies and organizations are continuing to promote energy efficiency through participation in Energy Star.

Last year alone, Americans, with the help of Energy Star, saved $14 billion on their energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of more than 25 million vehicles.

"Nevada Energy Star Partners has made significant progress in the Las Vegas Valley in increasing awareness of the Energy Star program over the past several years," said Annette Bubak, advertising manager for Astoria Homes who has played a major leadership role for Nevada Energy Star Partners.

"Not only do home buyers have a better understanding of the value and benefits of saving energy, general consumers are also much more aware of the Energy Star label and what it can do to save both energy and the environment. Today, the Energy Star distinction can be found in just about anything from appliances, electronics, lighting, windows and office products -- to homes and even mortgages."

The 2007 Sustained Excellence Awards are given to a select group of organizations that have exhibited outstanding leadership consistently.

These winners have set and achieved aggressive goals, employed innovative approaches, and shown others what can be achieved through energy efficiency.

These awards recognize ongoing leadership across the Energy Star program including energy-efficient products, services, new homes and in the commercial, industrial and public sectors. Award winners are selected from thousands of organizations that participate in the Energy Star program.

"Members like Nevada Energy Star Partners are outstanding leaders in protecting our environment through energy efficiency," said Bill Wehrum, acting assistant administrator for EPA's Office of Air and Radiation. "As one of the 2007 Energy Star Sustained Excellence winners, Nevada Energy Star Partners has taken energy efficiency to new heights year after year, and we all benefit."

Now in its sixth year, Nevada Energy Star Partners features more than 54 members including more than 28 home builders and developers. Nevada Energy Star Partners for 2006 included:
