Pool highlights Enclave residence's yard

When Christopher Homes was ready to create the outdoor water features for its custom show home at The Enclave at Southern Highlands Golf Club, the company called on Russ Watters, president of Watters Aquatech Pools and Spas in Las Vegas.

Watters, who has created pools and spas for model homes at several of the builder's luxury-home neighborhoods, said he was eager to take on the new project.

His latest effort graces the rear yard of the $7.5 million home the builder created to serve as the show home for the neighborhood of 18 custom residences within the guard-gated community.

"Here at The Enclave, my designers and the Christopher Homes' team collaborated to create something really spectacular -- something that would truly complement the outstanding architecture and craftsmanship of this home," Watters said.

He said several key factors were considered in the design of the pool, including the site.

"The rear yard is huge and overlooks the golf course, which inspired us to design a spacious 1,600-square-foot swimming pool to harmonize with the resort-like ambience of the home," Watters said. "This pool essentially has two zones and we incorporated dual vanishing edges across the sides facing the golf course. Visually, this creates a seamless blend from the sky to the green of the fairway to the blue water. An adjacent water feature ... has four geysers to create the tranquil sound of flowing water."

From a technological standpoint, the pool is state-of-the-art, Watters said.

"This pool is designed to provide every possible convenience for the homeowner. It operates on its own independent automation system, which controls every conceivable function including the in-floor cleaning system, the conventional and fiber-optic lighting systems, the gas and solar heaters and the fountain geysers," Watters said.

He estimates the value of the pool at about $275,000.

The 10,000-square-foot home showcases the latest in technology. Features include four courtyards, a theater, seven fireplaces and 10 baths.

Visitors 12 and older are welcome from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. A donation of $10 per person is requested, with all proceeds going to Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer of Southern Nevada.

Residences in the neighborhood will range from about 5,000 to more than 10,000 square feet. Prices are expected to range from $1.5 million to more than $8 million.

To visit the show home, take Interstate 15 to the Henderson/Lake Mead exit and head west.
