Aliante to host `Trails & Tails'

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

The Aliante master-planned community in North Las Vegas will host the inaugural "Trails & Tails" celebration Saturday, March 20. North Valley Enterprises, developer of Aliante, is the event sponsor. All proceeds will benefit the Lied Animal Shelter, which will host a pet adoption event that day in Aliante's 20-acre Nature Discovery Park.

"We're encouraging all of Southern Nevada to bring your families; bring your dogs and enjoy great activities in support of a very worthwhile cause," Kimiko Peterson, community marketing manager, said. "Lied Animal Shelter does a wonderful job and they really need the community's support and help in finding loving homes for so many abandoned animals. For those thinking about bringing a new pet into their family, Nature Discovery Park will provide a perfect setting to become acquainted with the many dogs that are available for adoption."

Adoptable dogs representing a variety of breeds and ages will be available. The adoption process can be completed on-site, with owners bringing their new pets home the same day.

Dogs will also be available for people who want to participate in the 1-Mile Doggie Stroll, but do not have a dog to accompany them. In addition to the Doggie Stroll, there will be a one-quarter mile Kids' Run and a competitive 5K Run.

Visitors are also invited to enjoy the entertainment and refreshments.

There is a $15 entry fee (payable in advance) for the 5K Run and the Doggie Stroll. Those who register on the day of the event will be charged $25. The Kids' Run is free.

The 5K Run will start at the information center and wind through Aliante's trail system, the first phase of which was recently completed. Awards will be presented for the overall male and female winners, as well as for first-, second- and third-place finishers in each age division. The Doggie Stroll and Kids' Run will be held in Nature Discovery Park.

All two-legged race entrants will be given T-shirts, while four-legged participants will receive bandanas and flying discs. Entrants in the 5K Run and Doggie Stroll will additionally receive a long distance calling card and a free entry in separate drawings for prizes supplied by Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Aliante Golf Club and North Valley Enterprises.

Registration packets are available in the community's information center. Certain rules and regulations apply.

To reach the center, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit then go south. Office hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

The 1,905-acre community is comprised of primary and adult villages, which will have as many as 7,500 homes.

D.R. Horton, KB Home, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes are building homes in the primary village, while Del Webb is developing the age-qualified Sun City Aliante.

Homes are priced from the $150,000s to the mid-$400,000s.

About one-fourth of the acreage has been designated for recreational purposes, including parks and trails, as well as the Aliante Golf Club, a public course. Roughly 100 acres have been set aside for commercial development, including a planned hotel with gaming.

North Valley Enterprises is an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb Corp.
