Fair housing art contest announced

The Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors' Equal Opportunity/Cultural Diversity Committee has announced that its seventh annual Fair Housing Poster Contest will be held in conjunction with April's Fair Housing Month observance.

"This program generates awareness of the need for fair housing, and providing fair housing opportunities to all people regardless of their race, color, religion, sex, national origin, family or disability, while enhancing understanding for both children and adults," association President Lee K. Barrett said.

Children in kindergarten through grade 12 are eligible. The contest is divided into four age groups. The first place winner in each category will receive a $200 U.S. Savings Bond, while second and third place winners will receive a $100 savings bond.

Entries can be sent through the Clark County School District's mail system to the Partnership Program Office, or delivered to the association office at 1750 E. Sahara Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89104. Entries will be accepted until 5 p.m. Friday, March 19.

Winners will be notified by April 4. An awards ceremony will be held at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum April 23 at 5:30 p.m.
