Southern Highlands appeals to custom-home builder

When it came time for Kenny Kuykendall, who owns a custom-home building company, to build a home for his family, he knew that Vintage Valley, an enclave within the Estates at Southern Highlands in the southwestern valley, was the ideal location.

"Vintage Valley offers an exceptional opportunity to build a home and enjoy an incredible lifestyle ...," he said.

Construction on his 6,155-square-foot residence on a one-half acre lot began in September and is expected to be complete in July. It will feature four bedrooms, five baths, a library, game room, exercise room, great room and a Tuscan-style courtyard.

"In designing the home, my goal is to have all the interior and exterior details blend seamlessly with the elegance and charm already associated with the Estates at Southern Highlands," Kuykendall said.

Interior features will include limestone flooring and distressed hardwood flooring, as well as a sunken 1,000-bottle wine cellar and a kitchen with two islands, one of which will be designed with 50-year-old refurbished butcher block from England.

Outdoor amenities will include a lagoon-style pool with a diving platform, spa, a sunken barbecue pit and a covered patio.

Kuykendall said he, his wife, Ginger, and their 2-year-old son, Caden, look forward to moving into their new home.

Once we found out about Vintage Valley, with its great value and friendly residents, we were sold. Most importantly, the community is a great place for Caiden to grow up," he said.

Central to the community is Southern Highlands Golf Club and its 42,000-square-foot Tuscan-inspired clubhouse with a golf library, pro shop, wine room, locker rooms and dining room.

The Spa at Southern Highlands includes a fitness center.

The Estates at Southern Highlands features custom homes and lots with views of the golf course, city and mountains. Lots range from one-half acre to 2 acres and are priced from $400,000s to more than $1 million. Custom homes start at $1.5 million.
