Toll Bros. runs tight ship

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

Jake Lucero, a senior project manager for Toll Bros., says his experience in new-home sales and construction gives him an edge in the area of customer service.

"(We) pride ourselves on being accessible to buyers," Lucero said. "Having been on both the sales and construction sides of home building, I can relate to buyers and help them find solutions, whether it's deciding on flooring or selecting a home site. This is a demanding industry, but being able to interact with buyers and helping them create their dream home is well worth it."

With 20 years of experience, Lucero once worked for Las Vegas-based Coleman Homes, which was acquired by Toll in 1997. He eventually left Las Vegas for Arizona, and was later asked by Gary Mayo, a Toll Bros. vice president, to return to Nevada.

"I was intrigued by Toll Brothers' project management system," Lucero said. "With this company, project managers are not just responsible for construction, but they also oversee the sales team. With my background, it seemed like it would be a good fit.

"I know what the buying process is like and what decisions have to be made. I also know how those choices are turned into reality and what is truly feasible when building a home. Being knowledgeable in every angle of the new luxury home process benefits our customers greatly."

Lucero's current assignment is to oversee the buildout of Rosemont, which is located in The Gardens village in Summerlin, and the development of The Reserve and The Retreat at Toll Bros. at Red Rock Country Club, also in Summerlin.

"Las Vegas is such a different housing market than it was when I first entered this industry," he said. "In 1984, interest rates were 14 percent and not many people were buying. Now, we have campouts and waiting lists of people who want to buy. We've come a long way in terms of supply and demand, quality, and the overall sales and construction process."

Lucero said he is surrounded by a team that shares his vision of excellence in quality and customer service.

"Everyone ... has a genuine commitment to delivering a home we can be proud of," he said. "We care about the homes we deliver, and want to ensure that every buyer has a pleasant experience from the time they first enter our sales office and throughout the time they live in their Toll Brothers home."

The company has built homes for 37 years and has more than 200 active neighborhoods in 21 states.
