Rhodes Homes touts children's gymnasium

A children's gym class has been added to the roster of resident activities and events at Rhodes Ranch, in its ongoing effort to provide amenity-rich recreation for residents of all ages at The R-Club.

The effort has been so popular that the center has added a third class during the week, according to Virginia Kaplan, program manager for The R-Club at Rhodes Ranch. "Kiddie Gym is offered to children between the ages of 6 months and 6 years," Kaplan said. "The response has been overwhelming. Initially we were offering it on Monday and Friday mornings, but we have since added Wednesday mornings at the request of the parents and caregivers of the children."

Kiddie Gym helps to bring the participants together in a safe environment.

According to Kaplan, the class starts off with the children doing some light stretching and warm up activities. The children are then able to choose which activity they feel like doing that day. The class offers an area where the kids can play dress-up; there are small activity centers for the toddlers to play with, hula hoops and balls of all sizes are available so the children can practice kicking or shooting baskets.

"We thought this would be a great opportunity to get the parents and children together to learn about sharing and that exercising can be fun," Kaplan said. "The focus is to get them interacting with one another and hopefully to create some friendships along the way, either between the kids or the parents and caregivers."

The hour long classes are offered in the gymnasium at 10 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. All residents are welcome.

To help offset equipment costs, The R-Club charges $2 per session.

Rhodes Homes opened the 35,000-square-foot R-Club in October 2005.

The center came complete with an indoor workout facility with weights and cardiovascular equipment, a full length basketball court, two racquetball/handball courts, and six billiards tables social areas that feature three fireplaces and couches, tables and chairs and will soon boast one of the largest outdoor water parks in the valley called the Fun Zone.

The builder is selling homes in three neighborhoods at Rhodes Ranch -- The Collection, Palms Bay, and Pacific Mist. These neighborhoods are in proximity to The R-Club.

The Collection, nestled in the Rhodes Ranch golf course community, offers three different series -- the Monet, Matisse and Van Gogh. Each has accompanying models, designs and amenities. Homes range from 1,467 to 4,138 square feet. For more information on The Collection, call 740-4111.

Palms Bay offers three two-story models ranging from 1,734 to 2,400 square feet. The two-story homes in Palms Bay have two-car garages and three or four bedrooms. To find out more, call 438-6006.

Pacific Mist offers three floor plans with three distinct elevations available for each model. For more information call 798-5006.
