Coming from New York City less than a decade ago, Ray and Charlotte Valentine moved to Las Vegas in search of better weather and a suburban environment. They said they found the Summerlin area to their liking and initially purchased in the master-planned community's Palisades, a Christopher Homes neighborhood with a name reminiscent of the couple's New York state origins.
While the Valentines said they loved the area and were happy with their home, the couple said they were still looking for a bit of the urban lifestyle they had enjoyed in Manhattan. When C2 Lofts announced it was building a mixed-use development of loft residences with rooftop gardens in Summerlin, they recognized an opportunity to integrate the urban lifestyle they'd left behind with the suburban, easy living of Summerlin.

"We love our home in Palisades. It's gorgeous, but the opportunity for loft-style living was something we've always really wanted," Charlotte said. "We also wanted to stay in Summerlin, so C2 Lofts is perfect."
Ray said C2 Lofts in Summerlin was exactly what they were hoping to find when they originally moved to Las Vegas.
"C2 Lofts is a new concept in Southern Nevada and we immediately fell in love with the contemporary feel of it," Ray Valentine said. "It has both the city feel and the suburban feel, plus it has the right proximity to the Strip."
The Valentines' one-level Lace design includes a 152-square-foot covered outdoor terrace that opens off the main living area. The 1,530-square-foot open loft design features a minimum of interior walls, allowing for greater flexibility of use.
Only a few lofts remain for sale in Building A at C2 Lofts in Summerlin, which is just months away from opening. Several lofts were recently released for sale in Building B.
The residences will feature minimalist styling, highlighted by exposed ductwork and expansive windows. Ceiling heights range from 10 to 12 feet in the single-level lofts and 20 feet in two-level lofts. The lofts offer eight floor plans of up to 2,700 square feet.
Both buildings will feature a central atrium from which all front doors are accessed. This breezeway area is accented with bamboo plantings. A landscaped rooftop garden atop each building, will provide panoramic views in a lounge setting with fire pits and barbecue areas.
Loft interiors include stainless steel appliances, upgraded cabinetry, granite countertops and Kohler plumbing fixtures. Interiors can be customized with fireplaces, brick wall treatments and various flooring and stone countertop options. Each buyer receives consultation with a design center professional.
Planned amenities include a heated pool, two spas, fitness center and private, enclosed parking garage.
The loft development will feature on-site retail shops on the main level of each building. Proposed retailers include a coffee shop, deli, dry cleaner, in addition to other lifestyle retail businesses.
Residents will receive an executive golf club membership to Red Rock Country Club with each purchase at C2 Lofts in Summerlin. The membership entitles residents to year-round use of the golf courses, as well as the clubhouse, sports club, tennis and swimming facilities.
"Coming from New York, we're used to walking and being able to walk to restaurants and other attractions will be a wonderful thing," Charlotte said. "This lifestyle is more to our taste and we've been looking for it ever since we came out West. It's exactly what we wanted all along."
Located off West Charleston Boulevard, about one-half mile west of Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, the lofts offer 100 residences in two five-story buildings with landscaped grounds, rooftop gardens and double-gated access.
Situated in a residential area of Summerlin Centre, the development is within a mile of Red Rock Resort Casino and shopping centers.
The Summerlin master plan's trail system links the development to nearby parks and to future attractions such as The Shops at Summerlin and The Central Park, a mix of retail outlets, recreational amenities and entertainment venues.
The C2 Lofts Preview Center offers private tours of a professionally decorated and furnished modeled loft.
The center is located in the Best Buy/Costco shopping center, near the northeast corner of the 215 Beltway and West Charleston Boulevard. To visit, take the Beltway to West Charleston. Exit east. Turn north into Canyon Pointe Shopping Plaza and look for the C2 Lofts Preview Center on the right.

A C2 Lofts Upper West Side planned community will be constructed in the northwest valley, near U.S. Highway 95 and West Lake Mead Boulevard.
Company officials said the Upper West Side lofts will offer a "live, work and play" environment, centered by a Main Street with loft residences above upscale retail shops, restaurants and offices.
Prices should start in the low $400,000s and an interest list is forming.
Names for the interest list are being accepted at the C2 Lofts Web site.
