Canadian finds perfect fit at Palomino Ranch

When Lillian Widman decided to move to Las Vegas from Toronto, she was assisted in her new-home search by her daughter, Candi Cazau, and son-in-law, Duke Morgan, who are four-year residents of Southern Nevada.

Cazau and Morgan immediately began searching for Widman's new home, focusing in the southwestern valley where they live. Their search ended at Palomino Canyon, a US Home neighborhood. Cazau took pictures of the Mustang model and sent them to her mother.

"I bought my new home without even seeing it," Widman said. "Candi handled everything for me. She sent photos and samples as we decided on the color scheme and floor coverings, and worked closely with our builder, Brett Wagoner from US Home, handling every detail."

Cazau and Morgan set the home up for Widman before she left Canada and stocked the refrigerator. Widman was eager to keep her 1960s-era, double-door, pink refrigerator.

"When was the last time you saw a pink refrigerator? Everyone who sees it is just amazed," Widman said.

The Mustang floor plan she purchased features two bedrooms, a den, and two baths in a great-room design. It measures 1,497 square feet and includes a two-car garage. The home features a side-facing entry, window accents, pot shelves, media and art niches, and a fireplace. The owner suite offers a walk-in closet, separate tub and shower, and enclosed toilet. Several room options are available.

Three additional floor plans are available.

The 1,798-square-foot, single-level Appaloosa has two to four bedrooms in a great-room design. Options include an extended family room, a retreat off the owner suite, extended front porch, den, study and built-in desk.

The two-story, 2,246-square-foot Arabian can be designed as a three-, four- or five-bedroom home. It also features 2 1/2 baths and a three-bay garage. The kitchen has an island workstation, pantry, breakfast nook and bay window. Room options include a loft, laundry room and balcony off the owner suite.

Also a two-story home, the 2,659-square-foot Thoroughbred comes with three to five bedrooms. It features vaulted ceilings, formal living areas, a great-room design and a bay window. Options include a family room, bunk room, and patio or balcony.

Standard features include ceramic-tile entries and counter tops, cultured-marble vanities and oak cabinetry.

Prices start from the $170,000s.

To visit, take Interstate 215 to Durango Drive, head south to Arby Avenue, turn right and follow the signs.

The models and sales office are open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Monday, when they open at 11 a.m.
