MILESTONES: Toll Bros. solid after 35 years in business

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

Toll Bros. has been building homes in Southern Nevada for five years and nationwide for 35 years. In that time, the builder has established a solid reputation among its customers and peers, according to Gary Mayo, Las Vegas division vice president.

"Toll Bros. has found a welcoming market for our luxury homes in the Las Vegas area," Mayo said. "Our home buyers have expressed appreciation for the combination of luxury, quality and customer service we provide. This reflects the outstanding reputation Toll Bros. has spent 35 years solidifying."

The company was founded in 1967, and entered the Las Vegas market in 1997 with the purchase of Coleman Homes and four of its neighborhoods in Summerlin. Mayo had been with Coleman for 18 years before the purchase.

"We're in Nevada for the long haul," he said. "With plans for new communities and the purchase of land for future development, we are ensuring our longevity in the Southern Nevada market."

Toll Bros. is currently developing Stonehaven at MacDonald Highlands and Buckingham at Queensridge, as well as several neighborhoods in Summerlin: Rosemont in The Gardens village, Wood Glen and Heritage Glen in Willow Creek, and Monterossa in The Vistas village. The builder plans to debut two neighborhoods in the next several months.

Toll Bros.' neighborhoods are typically found in golf course communities and in master-planned communities, allowing the company to target empty nesters, move-up buyers and families.

"We strive to build in areas where our buyers can find amenities and attractions to suit their lifestyles," Mayo said. "In the Las Vegas division, we're proud to help solidify and expand that reputation as we continue to grow throughout Southern Nevada.

"We take our job of building the best luxury homes very seriously. Our homes reflect attention to detail, convenience, luxury and overall quality, and home buyers recognize that the moment they see one of our models or floor plans."

Backing the continued growth of the Las Vegas division is Toll Bros.' financial strength, according to Mayo, who said the Huntingdon Valley, Penn.-based builder generated $2.2 billion in revenues and $213 million in earnings in fiscal 2001. In addition, he said the company has logged nine consecutive years of record earnings, 10 consecutive years of record revenues and 11 consecutive years of record sales contracts. Toll Bros. is currently the nation's eighth largest home builder based on revenue.

In its history, Toll Bros. has been named "America's Best Builder" and "National Builder of the Year" and has earned the "National Quality Award."

The company has 165 active neighborhoods under way in 21 states.
