Christopher showcases custom home

Christopher Homes showcased its custom-home division during an event that raised more than $10,000 for the women's basketball program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

The benefit, attended by more than 150 people, was hosted by Linda and Gary Ackerman in their new 10,000-square-foot custom home in Anthem in Henderson. The home was built by Christopher and designed by architect Gordon Rogers.

Special guest at the benefit was artist Alexandra Nechita, who displayed her paintings, lithographs, watercolors and drawings. Nechita, born in Romania in 1985, began drawing when she was 2. Her first exhibit was a solo show at a Los Angeles public library when she was 8 years old and dubbed "The Petite Picasso" by the press.

Today, Nechita's exhibits attract capacity crowds and her paintings are sold to collectors worldwide. A portion of proceeds from sales of her work was donated to the sport's program.

Also attending the benefit were UNLV football coach John Robinson and women's basketball coach Regina Miller.

Mark Stuhmer, vice president of the builder's custom-home division, said the company was pleased to sponsor the event.

"At Christopher Homes, we are 100 percent focused on making the process of building a custom home a stress-free and rewarding experience for each of our custom-home clients. Our team is familiar with every conceivable aspect of building a custom home and we can incorporate the most sought-after features in luxury-home building such as basements, elevators, detached casitas, wine cellars, fireside courtyards and a complete range of other options," Stuhmer said.

Information about the custom-home division can be obtained by visiting the company's Bellacere neighborhood in Summerlin.

To visit, take Summerlin Parkway to Town Center Drive, go south to Alta Drive and turn east to the main entrance, which is on the left. The office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
