Tierra Linda shows 'taste'

KB Home will serve up chili from four Las Vegas restaurants during its Tierra Linda Chili Taste-Off from noon to 3 p.m. today at its neighborhood in the southeastern valley.

Each restaurant will serve a bowl of its chili, while supplies last, to home shoppers, who can vote for their favorite to win the people's choice award.

In addition, there will be musical entertainment and local race car driver Mike Cofer, winner of the recent KB Home Showdown race, will be present along with his car and sign autographs.

Several Clark County firefighters participating in May's bachelor auction to benefit the Clark County Firefighters Burn Foundation will be on hand to sign posters, and will join Cofer as celebrity judges for the best chili award.

Also, the builder will present the firefighters with a $500 check to support their efforts.

"We are excited to present the KB Home Chili Taste-Off at the Tierra Linda community," said Leah Bryant, president of the builder's Las Vegas division. "The afternoon event has something for everyone from delicious chili from local restaurants, live music by Tommy Rocker, NASCAR driver Mike Cofer and a worthy cause."

Two series of homes are offered at the neighborhood.

The Pueblo series features seven floor plans, ranging from 1,098 to 2,312 square feet. The one- and two-story homes feature two to four bedrooms, two to three baths and two-car garages. Prices start from the low $150,000s.

The Hacienda series has eight floor plans. The one- and two-story homes range from 1,245 to 2,784 square feet. The designs feature two to six bedrooms, two to three baths and two-car garages. Prices start in the low $160,000s.

To visit, take Interstate 15 to Blue Diamond Road, go east to Las Vegas Boulevard and drive south about 4 1/2 miles. Turn left on Barbara Lane and right on Haven Street then follow the signs. Office hours are from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily except Friday, when it opens at 11 a.m.

Upgrades and options can be selected at the builder's 22,000-square-foot design center at 7440 S. Industrial Road, Suite 201, just south of the Warm Springs Road intersection.

To assist buyers, the builder offers a Homebuyers Club and Home Finding Center which provide free financial advice, including credit reports, and help finding a house at its more than 20 active neighborhoods in the valley.

It also operates a full-service mortgage company.
