Rhodes Homes and i.d. Interior Design have donated used furniture, floor and window coverings to local charities, such as Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas, and individuals.

The materials become available when homes and neighborhoods are sold out or builders move offices from trailers into models.

"We've been making it an increased priority to ensure that materials we no longer utilize are getting into the hands of people who can make great use of them," said Glynda Rhodes, vice president of design for Rhodes Homes, as well as president/owner of i.d. Interior Design. "Rather than sitting in a warehouse where they may or may not be used again, organizations such as Habitat for Humanity make sure the donated material have a direct impact on people's lives."

The builder recently moved its sales office from a trailer used for its X-it development into a model home, so the builder donated granite counter tops, fixtures and extensive cabinetry to Habitat for Humanity's warehouse in North Las Vegas.

The builder and the design firm also donated window treatments and 2,000 square feet of carpet from model homes at Avellino in Tuscany Residential Village.

"We appreciate the efforts of companies such as Rhodes Homes and i.d. to help provide us with materials that will ultimately lead to the construction of homes for those in need," said Guy Amato, executive director of Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas. "The more materials that we have to work with, the more people we can directly benefit."

Rhodes and i.d. also donated furniture from its design warehouse to a local family. The donation, which furnished the family's living room, dining room and several children's bedrooms, was done in conjunction with the Public Education Foundation.
