Comfort considered in Pulte designs
Pulte Homes has incorporated energy efficiency into the design of its homes. The homes not only have obtained the Environments for Living designation for efficiency, they also offer a two-year heating and cooling guarantee. According to Dave Beck, vice president of construction, several components make a home energy efficient. One is cocoon cellulose insulation, which is an engineered wood fiber insulation sprayed directly into the structure. The insulation forms a stiff barrier and fills tiny spaces, which helps protect against air leaks, bugs and mold. Another component is low-emissivity windows. These vinyl-framed, dual-pane, spectrally-selective glass windows help reduce heat infiltration and are installed in every Pulte home. They also help reduce ultraviolet rays by nearly 75 percent over ordinary clear glass, according to the builder. "It is important to utilize the most advanced materials into each home we build," Beck said. "We want our customers to live in a comfortable environment without having to worry about energy costs and severe weather conditions." Most of the builder's neighborhoods under development and all planned developments feature the Platinum Series Environments for Living designation for efficiency. The homes have been designed, built and tested according to the principles of building science for optimal safety, durability, affordability and comfort. These certified homes also offer a two-year heating and cooling guarantee. Pulte Homes, the nation's largest home builder, has 12 active developments in Southern Nevada and operations in 44 markets across the United States, Argentina, Puerto Rico and Mexico. It is a leading builder of age-qualified communities through its Del Webb operations.
