Southern Californian chooses Richmond American residence

Searching for a new home in another state can be difficult, but James Peters said he found the Internet to be extremely valuable in a search that led him from Southern California to a Richmond American home in Southern Nevada.

"RichmondAmerican.com was probably one of the most helpful tools in my search. I was able to map out what communities to visit on my trip, and when I went back to California after having toured so many homes, the site helped me remember which ones I'd liked best. After a year long search, I narrowed it down to three floor plans ... The most exciting part was making the final decision and saying, 'This is the house.'"

Peters chose the Lady Frances floor plan at Whitney Heights in northwest Las Vegas at Elkhorn Road and Durango Drive.

Priced from the $260,000s, the three-story design offers two bedrooms, two full baths and two powder rooms, within 1,500 square feet.

The lower level includes a study and powder room, with a third bedroom available in lieu of the study.

The main floor includes living room, kitchen and dining room, with a covered balcony. The top-level includes the master bedroom suite with private bath, secondary bedroom, full bath and laundry room.

"One of my favorite features about this home is how nice the staircases look as you open the front door," Peters said.

"I also like how the kitchen is set off so you don't have to walk through it to get to the other rooms."

Peters selected design options through the builder's Home Gallery and moved into his new home the day after Thanksgiving.

In addition to the Lady Frances, there are two other floor plans -- the Dentata and the Ivalace.

Priced from the $250,000s, the Dentata is a two-bedroom home offering three baths and in 1,400 square feet.

The lower level includes a home office and full bath, with a third bedroom available in lieu of the office.

The largest floor plan, the Ivalace, features three to four bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths in 1,700 square feet.

The lower level includes a full bedroom and bath, with the main level offering the living and dining room areas, powder room, laundry and island-kitchen.

The third-level includes a loft, that is available as an optional fourth bedroom. The Ivalace is priced from the $280,000s.

The builder is constructing in more than 50 communities throughout Las Vegas, designing more than 100 floor plans.

To visit, take Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, to Durango Drive and go north, then turn left on Dorrell Lane.

Sales centers and model homes are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except Friday when they open at noon.
