William Lyon Homes' West Park Villas designs inspire culinary delight
SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE
Suzanne and Christophe Sorel said they fell in love with the idea of living in a townhome from the moment they toured William Lyon Homes' West Park Villas in Summerlin Centre.
Suzanne, a master pastry cook at Joël Robuchon at MGM Grand, and Christophe, a pastry chef instructor at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, lived in a single-family home in Summerlin for four years prior to purchasing at West Park Villas. On their days off, Suzanne and Christophe prepare everything from omelets to roasted chicken to apple tarts. According to the couple, their new home -- especially the kitchen -- meets all of their requirements.

"People are surprised by this, but many chefs prefer compact kitchens so everything is easily accessible," Suzanne said, "this is perfect for our needs, and the countertop bar is ideal for food presentation."
The Sorels purchased the 1,674-square-foot Plan Three, a two-story townhome with four bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths with the option for a loft or study in place of the fourth bedroom. Other highlights include a covered front entry, coat closet, kitchen pantry and interior laundry room.
"West Park resembles some of the communities in New York," said Suzanne Sorel who is from New York City. Christophe Mullally hails from Paris, France.
"Our townhome looks and feels like a brownstone in the city," She said. "It's nice to get back to this kind of lifestyle."
Two- and three-story designs range from 1,556 to 2,048 square feet with up to four bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. Some floor plans allow for a bonus room, tech center, loft, study or fifth bedroom.
Covered entries, attached two-car garages and open kitchens are standard to every plan.
Security alarm pre-wiring, Cat 5 wiring in selected areas, designer plant shelves, custom-recessed lighting and raised-panel interior doors are among the included features.
Prices start in the low $300,000s.
The couple said the neighborhood's Summerlin Centre location, in proximity to Red Rock Canyon, appealed to them since they work to balance cooking with a phyically active lifestyle.
Along with their English bulldog, Voltaire, Suzanne and Christophe regularly walk to the canyon area.
