Artist flourishes in Sun City Anthem
Jeanne Zorick, a Sun City Anthem resident since 1999, has worked to make the community a more enjoyable place to live. Zorick and her husband, Steve, have become one of the community's most recognizable couples. Steve Zorick was a founding member of the hiking club, one of the largest organizations in the community. "I'm a happy camper," Zorick said. "I have a great time doing what I love." Jeanne Zorick founded the Art Club and serves as its president. The Art Club's room and many of its supplies at Anthem Center, the community's recreational center and social hall, were initially funded by community developer Del Webb Corp. "We'll also have an art room in a second recreation center being planned here at Sun City Anthem," Zorick said. "With funding from Del Webb, community clubs have an opportunity to help design their rooms before the center is even built." Zorick said the 150-member club has something for everyone. "You don't have to know how to draw to be in the Art Club," she said. "We have so much more than that. You can do stained glass, mosaics, calligraphy, stenciling, glass etching, or even wood and stone sculptures." Last year, the club donated money to Opportunity Village and funded several children to attend art camp. The club earns money for these donations by raffling artwork and paintings created by members. "Last year we gave approximately $1,500 to people who could really use it," Zorick said. "It makes us feel wonderful that we can use our talents and creations to benefit others." The community, situated in Henderson, offers 19 models, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and priced from the low $140,000s to more than $500,000. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, past St. Rose Parkway, to Anthem Parkway, turn left and follow the signs. The model home village is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
