Rolladen buyers count praises of shutters
Ever since Diane and Riccardo Bertolaccini had Rolladen Rolling Shutters installed on 12 windows and doors of their 1,800-square-foot home in the southwestern valley, they believe their home is more secure and better able to keep out the heat of the day. The shutters, comprised of roll-filled aluminum slats, have become popular for both businesses and residential construction throughout the Las Vegas Valley, according to the company. The Bertolaccinis, valley residents since 1965, heard about the shutters through a friend. The couple plans to take a vacation later this year and are less worried about their home since the shutters have been installed. They said their power bill went down considerably as a result of the shutters. "I really doubt that we'll have a bill higher than $100 in the summer," Diane Bertolaccini said. Minnozzi said many home buyers request the shutters to be installed during construction. The practice of including the shutters during construction is customary in Europe, where the shutters originated. "People sometimes try iron bars or solar screens because they're cheaper than Rolladens," said Fran Minnozzi, who opened the local franchise more than 18 years ago. "But the truth is that many learn later that nothing works like Rolladens." The company will remove previous window coverings free of charge. The company's showroom is situated at 6168 W. Charleston Blvd. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and by appointment on Saturday.
