Walnut Glen's location captivates military veteran

The price and location of KB Home's new Walnut Glen neighborhood in the northeastern valley prompted Willy Meyers to move from Coos Bay, Ore., to Las Vegas.

"I will live about a mile from Nellis Air Force Base," said Meyers, a military veteran. "The homes are an excellent value. I'd be foolish to pass it up."

He was pleased with the home-buying process.

"My sales agent was excellent. He was always there to answer my questions. I couldn't have asked for better service," Meyers said.

Still in its grand-opening phase, the neighborhood features 11 floor plans, six of which are modeled. Single- and two-story homes range from 964 to 2,038 square feet.

Homes are priced from the $120,000s.

"We see a variety of buyers at this community. With our 11 floor plans, Walnut Glen offers homes to fit almost every lifestyle. We see retired people like Mr. Meyers, first-time buyers and families looking to grow into a new home," said Shelly Stewart, vice president of sales and marketing.

Available options include breakfast nooks, kitchen islands and covered patios.

To visit, take Interstate 15 to Craig Road, head east to Walnut Road and turn right. The sales office and models are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Monday, when they open at 11 a.m.

The builder offers one-stop shopping at its design center, where buyers may select options and upgrades, and potential buyers may receive free financial advice, including credit reports, and assistance in locating a home. The center is located at 7440 S. Industrial Road, Suite 201, just south of Warm Springs Road.

KB Home is one of America's largest home builders. It also operates a full-service mortgage company.
