Summerlin to welcome four restaurants in 2004

Residents of Summerlin will welcome several new restaurants to their community this year, according to Jim Harris, an executive with The Howard Hughes Corp., the developer of the master-planned community.

Four new restaurants, Olive Garden, BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse, Agave and Islands, have opened or are scheduled to open later this year at Canyon Pointe, a shopping center at Charleston Boulevard and Interstate 215.

Olive Garden opened in May; BJ's has scheduled its grand opening for Wednesday; Agave is scheduled to open in late August; and Islands is scheduled to open in late October, Harris said.

"Today, dining is one of the most important and significant amenities in any community," he said. "Not only do people enjoy eating out more often, our modern-day, fast-paced lifestyle dictates the need for meals on the go."

In addition, a food court consisting primarily of convenience-type options, is under development within the Canyon Pointe center.

Summerlin is developing as a series of villages along the western edge of the Las Vegas Valley. The community is home to 107 neighborhood and village parks, more than 100 miles of trails, houses of worship, shopping centers, medical facilities, cultural facilities, business parks and nearly 120 model homes.

Homes are available in a variety of styles, including single-family homes, townhomes and condos, priced from the high $200,000s to more than $2 million. Custom-home sites are priced from the $500,000s to more than $1 million. Apartments offer monthly rents starting from the low $800s.
