Aliante community hosts barbecue

Visitors sampled epicurean delights and learned a few grilling tips at an event hosted by the Aliante master-planned community last Saturday.

Held at the North Las Vegas community's 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, the event attracted hundreds of visitors who enjoyed demonstrations on the "art of barbecue" by chef Les Kincaid, free food, entertainment and giveaways.

"We felt that an event like this would be a perfect way to welcome the summer season to Aliante," said Kimiko Peterson, community marketing manager. "Obviously, our Aliante homeowners and visitors alike felt the same way, because we had an outstanding turnout. It was a day that included lots of family activities, along with the opportunity to learn about the art of preparing barbecue cuisine."

Aliante is a development of North Valley Enterprises, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb Corp. It encompasses more than 1,900 acres, and consists of an all-ages village and an age-qualified village, Sun City Aliante. Combined, they comprise a projected 7,500 homes.

Prices for homes range from the low $200,000s to the $700,000s.

Builders are Del Webb, D.R. Horton, KB Home, Pardee Homes, Perma-Bilt Homes and Pulte Homes.

Nearly one-fourth of the community is designated for recreational and public purposes including the Aliante Golf Club, parks, trails and an arroyo.

Proposed plans include three schools.

Roughly 100 acres are allocated for commercial development, including shopping, dining, professional services and a 40-acre resort with gaming.

To visit, take U.S. 95 Highway to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit and go south.

An information center is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
