Former Californians pursue `better' life at Meridian Hills

Seeking a better opportunity for their family, Terri Chamson and Wan Choi moved to the Las Vegas Valley from San Francisco. Within six months, they had found a place for their family to call home, Richmond American's Meridian Hills subdivision.

"Las Vegas offered a great opportunity for our family to grow and experience new things," Choi said. "The housing is affordable and still offers great quality, which is important to me."

Chamson said they had heard positive comments about the builder and decided to look at developments in the northern valley that were close to a school for their daughter Tasha.

"The lot sizes at Meridian Hills were larger than what we had seen previously, so we will have a nice back yard for the girls to play. We are all excited for the new home, but Tasha is very eager to move in and have space to enjoy outside," Chamson said.

They chose the 2,026-square-foot Manchester model, which features four bedrooms, three baths and a two-car garage, as well as a family room, and dining and living rooms. The master bedroom includes two walk-in closets and an optional balcony. It is priced from the $320,000s.

"The feature that really stood out for us was the guest room set apart from the rest of the bedrooms. When our family is in town to visit, it will be nice to offer them some privacy while still staying with us in our home," Chamson said.

Among the other plans is the four-bedroom, 2 1/2-bath Nantucket model, a two-story floor plan measuring 1,853 square feet. The master bedroom includes a walk-in closet and optional retreat. The living room and dining room feature a two-story ceiling. It is priced from the $310,000s.

Another floor plan is the single-story Southampton, which measures 1,609 square feet. With three bedrooms and two baths, it includes a family room, and dining and living rooms. A covered rear patio is optional. The model is priced from the $300,000s.

To visit, take Interstate 15 to Craig Road, go west to Martin Luther King Boulevard and turn south. proceed to Alexander Road and go west.
