Bar and grill provides taste of 'small-town spirit'
SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE
The opening of Mountain Falls Bar and Grill means residents of Mountain Falls, a golf course community in the Pahrump Valley, can get a taste of small-town spirit within the 1,050-acre master-planned development by William Lyon Homes.
Neil Pierce, general manager and head golf pro at Mountain Falls Golf Club, an 18-hole course that anchors the master plan, oversaw the restaurant's opening.

"It's funny, I've been asked dozens of times if I own the place and if the others who work at Mountain Falls are part of my family," Pierce said. "I explain that we're coworkers, part of a team. It means a lot that people are left with a good impression of Mountain Falls and our staff.
"Most of us are transplants from all over the country, but we all consider Mountain Falls our community. During our planning phase, we'd listen to each other and suggest ideas. A waitress would run into a resident who had an idea for a dinner special, a chef would suggest a happy hour promotion that he felt would appeal to golfers. The public's response has been wonderful."
Polly Paolozzi, food and beverage director, worked with Pierce to open the restaurant. She said the menu offerings were planned with input from the entire 17-member team as well.
"We worked together to develop a moderately priced menu of choices we felt would be a hit with patrons," Paolozzi said.
The restaurant is located within the community clubhouse, which measures more than 22,000 square feet. Other features include meeting rooms and banquet facilities that can accommodate 350 people. A planned expansion will provide a lounge, fitness center, locker rooms, a family pool, adult pool, spa, water play area and picnic area.
"We're so excited for residents to experience the splash pad area. It's a water playground that's going to be huge with the kids," said Josh Gaston, resident facility manager. "It will be the first one in town."
The restaurant, which is open to the public, serves breakfast and lunch, and plans to begin dinner service in summer.
"With views of Mount Charleston, the golf course and the lakes, our setting is entirely unique," Paolozzi said.
Sales are under way at the Cascata, Tramonto and Bella Sera neighborhoods. Prices start in the low $200,000s.
Classic Homes, Desert Wind Homes and Celebrate Homes expect to open subdivisions in the coming weeks.
