Frequent Las Vegas visitors select second home at Fairway Pointe
Not only is Chartered Homes' Fairway Pointe townhome development a home away from home for Californians Ruth and Steve Zone, it's the second home they've owned in Las Vegas. "We had a condo in 1992 ... and loved it. But as the kids grew up, we were involved in Pop Warner Football and so forth, so we sold it. But we missed Las Vegas," Steve Zone said. The Zones, who own two businesses in Southern California, decided to buy a second home at the Queensridge community during one of their visits to Las Vegas. "One day while Stephen was gambling, I was out with the Realtor and found a condo I liked in Summerlin. I called Stephen and he came to meet us," Rose Zone said. After they put a deposit on the condominium, they discovered Fairway Pointe. "We saw the sign for Fairway Pointe and thought we'd give the homes a look. Immediately we realized this was the place for us, and we went back to the other place and got our deposit back," Steve Zone said. The couple, who has four children, two grandchildren and a third grandchild on the way, chose the Inverness model to accommodate visitors. Their 1,643-square-foot townhome offers three bedrooms or two bedrooms and a den, and three baths. Other plans are the single-story Brookhill with 1,453 square feet, two owner suites, or two bedrooms and a den, and two baths; the Cornwall, a 1,604-square-foot, single-story home with three bedrooms or two bedrooms and a den, and two baths; the two-story Fairfax with 1,573 square feet, two owner suites and 2 1/2 baths; and the St. Andrew, a three-bedroom, 2 1/2-bath design with 1,731 square feet. Prices start from $146,710. The Zones have been pleased with the customer service that they have received from the builder and enjoy the community's location near stores, restaurants and parks. "I love being near the mountains. It takes your breath away. I love the winters here. It doesn't get too cold, and I can turn on the fireplace," Rose Zone said. "We're very lucky to be living here. The people who live here have great taste and are good neighbors. This is a very nice community. You feel at home here." The development is on Charleston Boulevard, just west of Rampart Boulevard. The sales office is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
