Vacationers buy home at Red Rock Country Club

Mark "Doc" and Patricia Lane and their daughters, Natalie and Jennifer, have celebrated special occasions in Las Vegas many times. They visited on holidays and spent their annual vacation in the city.

"We love Las Vegas, and it was always our favorite vacation spot," Doc Lane said. "My wife and I met in Incline Village nearly 30 years ago and always wanted to return to Nevada to live. We finally made it."

The Lanes, residents of the San Francisco Bay area, will soon move into their new home at Red Rock Country Club in the southern part of Summerlin.

"A friend of ours had a brochure for Red Rock Country Club, so we decided to drive up here to see what it was all about," Lane said. "Our sales agent was so fabulous, and we bought our house over the phone after we returned to California."

After taking a family vote, the Lanes opted for the single-story Ocotillo Plan 3101 with an optional casita. The home features three bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, a living room, dining room, wet bar, and an entry courtyard. Their lot is near the sixth hole of the Arroyo Golf Course and offers views of the course and palm trees.

"It's hard for us not to be here full time, knowing what we have here at Red Rock Country Club," Patricia Lane said. "Everything here is so new, and we like being a part of the Summerlin master-planned community. ..."

Red Rock Country Club is located at the foothills of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Four collections of homes are available, priced from the low $300,000s to more than $2 million. It is home to the first of two Arnold Palmer-designed golf courses plus a practice facility with a double-ended driving range, putting green and chipping areas.

Amenities are available for people of all ages, and range from golf to tennis to swimming.

The main clubhouse features a golf shop, banquet facilities, a meeting room and two dining rooms.

Inside the sports club are saunas, steam rooms, health and fitness equipment, an aerobics studio, locker rooms and a supervised children's play area.

The aquatic center features several pools, a spa and an outdoor grill, while the tennis center features nine courts, five of which are lighted.

The community is situated behind walls, and features a 24-hour manned guardhouse.

To reach the information center, take Sahara Avenue west, past Town Center Drive, and follow the signs. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara and go west. Office hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

The developer, Sunrise Colony Co., is also building the age-qualified community of Siena in Summerlin.
