Couple buys second Del Webb home 32 years later

Joseph and Elaine Heigl are back where they started with the Del Webb Corp.

"We were married in 1969 and bought our first house in Oakbrook, Ill. It was a Del Webb house. Now, here we are 32 years later buying at Sun City Anthem in another Del Webb community," Joseph Heigl said.

After living in Jacksonville, Fla., for many years, the Heigls wanted a more arid climate and selected the age-qualified community in Henderson, where they have been residents for about two weeks.

"We purchased a part-time house before moving here permanently," Joe Heigl said. "When we decided to look at a retirement community, the Del Webb name drew us."

They found exactly what they wanted in the Cambridge model.

"We had a 4,000-square-foot home that was just too much for us to take care of. We wanted to downsize, and the Cambridge model was perfect. It's ideal for us because of its big kitchen, great room and den," Elaine Heigl said.

"We've been all around the world, and this just felt like home. There's a certain feeling you get when you walk into a house, and this just felt right for us."

The community offers 17 models, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet.

Homes are priced from $137,750 to more than $500,000.

Amenities include Anthem Center, a 75,000-square-foot community center. The facility offers fitness, social and recreational opportunities for residents, as well as Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public.

Sun City Anthem is part of the builder's 5,000-acre Anthem master-planned community, which also features the guard-gated Anthem Country Club and Coventry Homes at Anthem. During its 10-year buildout, the community is expected to have about 10,000 homes and three championship golf courses.

To visit the models, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway. They are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
