Clubhouse opens in Siena
Siena, a guard-gated, age-qualified village that encompasses 665 acres in Summerlin, welcomed more than 500 people to the grand opening of its 13,500-square-foot golf clubhouse last weekend. Those who attended the event enjoyed a golf challenge, wine tasting, refreshments and live band. The clubhouse anchors the Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley-designed, 18-hole, par-72 championship course, which overlooks the city and features waterfalls and six lakes. The facility is home to a golf pro shop as well as 5,000 square feet of meeting space. Siena Bistro, an Italian restaurant and bar, is also located in the clubhouse. The bistro serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and its dining area can accommodate as many as 150 people during special events. Residents of the Sunrise Colony Co. community can also enjoy amenities located in neighboring buildings, including a 15,900-square-foot health and fitness center. The center features a 25-meter indoor pool and spa, lighted tennis and bocce courts, cardiovascular and weight training rooms, private saunas, and a full-service salon and day spa. A neighboring 40,000-square-foot community center, which is scheduled to open in spring 2003, will feature a dome-shaped lobby, grand ballroom, theater, arts and crafts rooms, meeting rooms, library, card rooms, billiards room, and a computer and business center. An interim social center is open. The Tuscan-themed village is adjacent to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and includes nearly 2,000 single-story homes, ranging from 1,040 to more than 3,100 square feet and priced from the $140,000s to the $650,000s. Three exterior designs are available with each plan, and select plans offer courtyard fireplaces and casitas. Interior designers are located on-site. Siena is one of several villages in Summerlin, which is a development of The Howard Hughes Corp. in the western valley. The community, which has been ranked as the nation's best-selling master-planned community nine of the past 10 years, is home to two Tournament Players Club golf courses, Bear's Best course by Jack Nicklaus, and five other courses. Other amenities include nearly 100 neighborhood and village parks, nearly 100 completed miles of trails, 16 public and private schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, medical and cultural facilities, business parks, and nearly 100 model homes. Houses, townhomes and condominiums are priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $700,000. Custom lots measuring from one-half acre to three-quarters of an acre are priced from the high $300,000s to more than $1 million, and custom homes are priced from $500,000 to more than $1 million. Apartments offer monthly rents starting from the high $700s. To visit the community's home finding center, take Sahara Avenue west, past Hualapai Way, to Town Center Drive. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara. The center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
