Siblings follow mom to Palm Hills
Shirley Ervin and her husband, Bill, visited Las Vegas six times before they decided to purchase a home at Palm Hills, a guard-gated development by Rhodes Homes in Henderson. "The location of the community couldn't be more perfect, with the freeway less than half a mile away and shopping right around the corner. The price was right too, which made our decision very easy," Shirley Ervin said. Their home purchase soon became a family affair. Shortly after they decided on their new home, their daughter, Christina, paid a visit all the while stating that she "was not going to buy a home or live in Henderson right now." Upon viewing her parents' floor plan, she could not resist and moved to the neighborhood. Later, Shirley Ervins' son, Michael Husbands, decided to purchase a home there, as well. His 2,640-square-foot home will be ready in July. "Upon seeing my mother's home, all the other factors just fell into place. The cost, value and amenities were a perfect mix for me ...," Husbands said. The neighborhood impressed each member of the family in different ways. "For me it was location and the floor plan, for my daughter it was the shopping nearby and freeway access, and for my son it was the total package of price, location and the breathtaking view. I would say Palm Hills has something for everyone," Shirley Ervin said. Bill Ervin concurred. "It really came down to value and convenience," Bill Ervin said. Six floor plans priced from the $180,000s are available. From the builder's Gold Collection are: a 1,530-square-foot, single-story home with three bedrooms, two baths, a great room, two-car garage and optional den; a 1,766-square-foot, single-story plan with three bedrooms, two baths and a two-car garage; and a two-story, 2,640-square-foot design with four bedrooms, an optional fifth and sixth bedroom, three baths, a bonus room, island kitchen and two-car garage. Three designs from the builder's Platinum Collection are available: a 2,055-square-foot, single-story home with three bedrooms, two baths, a great room, island kitchen and two-car garage; a 3,139-square-foot, two-story plan with four bedrooms, three baths, a powder room, loft, island kitchen, three-car garage and optional second master bedroom suite; and a two-story design with five bedrooms, three baths, a loft, owner retreat, island kitchen and three-car garage. The home measures 4,005 square feet. Community amenities include mountain views, a playground, picnic area and barbecue. To visit, take Interstate 515 south to Horizon Drive.
