Midwest snowbirds select Sun City Anthem
Investment brokers Neal and Joann Brunner love the summers in Mount Horeb, Wis., but after retirement decided that heading for a more moderate winter climate made sense. While they will maintain their home near Madison, Wis., as a dual residence for part of the year, they selected Del Webb Corp.'s Sun City Anthem for their second home. "I like the desert. Having lived in Florida for some time, I know the dry warm weather of Southern Nevada is preferable to the humid conditions there," Neal Brunner said. "Las Vegas and the immediate surroundings offer a lot. There's a variety of great restaurants, and the area has a lot of entertainment and recreational opportunities so we can enjoy life." The Brunners selected the Cambridge model at the age-qualified community. "We liked the open layout and the livability of the home," Joann Brunner said. Part of the Premier Series, the 1,996-square-foot design features a den, great room, front courtyard and optional third bedroom. The home's golf course location appealed to the couple. "Our new home will be located off the 14th hole of the new Concord golf course," said Neal Brunner, a self-described "single digit handicap" who looks forward to playing both of Anthem's championship courses. "I read about them in golf magazines before checking them out in person," he said. "They have very challenging layouts and multiple tees. The courses are kept in excellent condition. These are classy golf courses." Both 18-hole courses at The Revere at Anthem Golf Club were created by PGA Tour player Billy Casper and architect Greg Nash. Additionally, The Revere Clubhouse is a 23,149-square-foot facility with a pro shop and Buckman's Restaurant. Also featured in the community is the 77,363-square-foot Anthem Center which offers fitness, social and recreational opportunities for residents, as well as Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public. Joann Brunner looks forward to enjoying the activities at the community center and plans to join the Ceramics Club and the Computer Club. "We're especially excited about the fitness center with its exercise equipment and indoor pool," she said. Nineteen models are offered, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and priced from the low $140,000s to more than $500,000. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, and turn left on Anthem Parkway. Models are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
