Red Rock families play together

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

As Red Rock Country Club grows, so do the social and recreational opportunities within the guard-gated community in Summerlin.

"Not only does Red Rock Country Club offer one of the most outstanding natural settings in the valley, the variety of regularly planned social events and activities provides ample opportunity for social interaction between club members and residents alike," said Thomas Gilbertson, general manager.

Recently, a social committee was elected to plan special events for the families who reside in the community. The events include a Red Hot & Blues Party, Murder Mystery Dinner and Kids in the Kitchen cooking session, as well as a series of "dive-in" movies hosted poolside, an Independence Day barbecue and fireworks display, and outings to the Spring Mountain Ranch Super Summer Theater.

The hub of social activities is the 44,000-square-foot clubhouse, which provides views of the Las Vegas Valley. Residents, members and their guests have access to casual and fine dining; banquet facilities; a pro shop; and locker rooms, both of which are equipped with a sauna, steam room, private lounge and media center.

Adjacent to the clubhouse is the sports club, a 9,200-square-foot facility with health and fitness equipment, saunas, steam rooms, an aerobics studio, massage therapy rooms, locker rooms and a supervised children's play center. Also available are fitness classes.

"Our members are always complimenting us on the extensive variety of classes offered at the sports club," fitness director Sally Puskar said. "The fitness staff currently offers approximately 35 classes throughout the week, with 14 different classes to add variety to anyone's workout regime."

The sports club serves as the entrance to the community's aquatic center with its varied pools, a spa, splash-and-spray mini-park and outdoor grill. Swimming classes are available June through August.

Tennis lessons are also available and held at tennis center, where nine lighted, hard-surface courts are open. A junior summer camp is under way through Aug. 30.

Also available are two 18-hole golf courses, both designed by PGA legend Arnold Palmer, as well as a practice facility with a double-ended driving range, putting green and chipping areas.

Membership is open to residents as well as nonresidents of Red Rock Country Club.

Single- and two-story single-family floor plans are available, ranging from 2,100 to 5,300 square feet with as many as six bedrooms and a four-car garage. Homes are priced from the $350,000s to more than $2 million.

Custom-home sites measure from 15,000 to 20,000 square feet. Prices range from $315,000 to $500,000.

To visit, take Sahara Avenue west, past Town Center Drive, and follow the signs. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara and head west. The sales center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sunrise Colony Co. is also developing Siena, an age-qualified community in Summerlin.
