Southern Highlands park opens

Stonewater Park marked its grand opening at Southern Highlands by hosting the community's inaugural Memorial Day Celebration. More than 1,000 residents and their guests attended the event that included an evening Picnic in the Park with fun-filled activities for all ages, music, prizes and refreshments.

The 7-acre park's design resembles an amphitheater.

The festivities began with the presentation of colors by the Nellis Air Force Base Honor Guard, followed by classical and popular musical favorites performed by the John Haig Orchestra. A fireworks display topped off the event.

Southern Highlands is a 2,300-acre master-planned community in the southwestern valley.

The Villages at Southern Highlands showcases floor plans offered by several home builders. Residences are priced from the $150,000s to more than $400,000.

Custom homes are available in The Estates at Southern Highlands Golf Club, a guard-gated development offering lots with city, mountain and golf course views. Home site range from one-half acre to 2 acres and are priced from the mid-$300,000s to more than $1 million. Custom homes are priced from $1.5 million.

To visit, take Interstate 15 to the Henderson/Lake Mead exit, head west and follow the signs.
