Buyer praises Christopher Homes

Longtime Southern Nevadan Nancy Harkess found her new-home buying experience delightful with Christopher Homes.

"I have bought many homes in the valley over the years, but the level of service I am receiving from Christopher is superior to anything I've experienced in the past," Harkess said. "From the sales consultants to the in-house architecture and design teams, every step of the process is being handled in a professional and timely manner."

Harkess recently purchased a residence in The Villas, a neighborhood located within the guard-gated Southern Highlands Golf Club community in the southwestern valley. At The Villas, buyers can choose from eight residential designs, ranging from 1,983 to 3,400 square feet. Prices start from $336,900 to the mid-$800,000s.

Harkess selected the Nichita plan, which can be built as a single- or two-story residence. She chose two stories with two bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, a study and a game room.

"I also expressed an interest in enclosing the stairway that leads from the front courtyard to the upstairs game room," Harkess said. "I consulted with members of the builder's architectural team and found out that enclosing the stairway would be no problem. I was very pleased with their assistance and expertise."

The home measures 3,400 square feet.

"I was also pleased to able to select a golf course home site that will give me views of the fairway, as well as a golf course lake. The Nechita and The Villas had everything I was looking for."

Harkess was equally impressed by Kristen McGrath from the builder's design center.

"Kristen simply took the time to talk to me and then help me make the right choices. In fact, there were a few options I had in mind that I felt would be overly expensive and she was able to find those items for me at very competitive prices. Working with her was a wonderful experience that, I know, is going to result in a beautiful interior for my home," Harkess said, adding that she was unaware of a surprise that awaited her.

"Just prior to beginning construction of my home, I was invited to a groundbreaking ceremony at my home site. I really didn't know what to expect, perhaps a couple of Christopher Homes representatives and a photo or something. I was totally surprised when I arrived and there were more than half a dozen senior management representatives, along with the people who will be directly involved in the construction of my home."

Most homes at The Villas are on cul-de-sac lots.

All front-yard landscaping is handled through the homeowners association.

Select single-story floor plans allow buyers to expand their home to two stories, while a two-story design can be built as a three-story home.

The builder is also developing The Christopher Collection at Southern Highlands Golf Club. Buyers can choose from more than a dozen designs, including four single-story plans, two two-story residences with main-level master suites, and seven two-story plans with upstairs master suites. Floor plans measure from 3,000 to 6,200 square feet and are priced from the low $500,000s to more than $1 million. Lots average one-quarter acre.

Christopher includes a $25,000 allowance in the base price for the buyer's choice of customizing options.

Southern Highlands Golf Club is also home to The Enclave, a custom-home neighborhood by Christopher Homes. It will feature 18 residences ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 square feet. Home prices, including the lots, are expected to start from $1.5 million to more than $8 million.

The available home sites range from 13,800 to 35,000 square feet, and many align the golf course. The first completed residence is a 10,000-square-foot, $7.5 million show home built by Christopher.

The builder recently purchased an additional 55 home sites within the country club. Buyers will be able to choose from 21 designs measuring from 1,983 6,200 square feet and priced from $336,900 to more than $1 million. Home sites will measure from 8,200 to 12,000 square feet.

All of the neighborhoods feature lots with city, mountain and golf course views.

Southern Highlands Golf Club is a private facility. Clubhouse amenities include an elegant dining room, a wine room for private parties, a ibrary, lounges and locker rooms.

Buyers at all Christopher Homes neighborhoods in Southern Highlands Golf Club receive a free social membership, upon application approval.
