Keith Herron made a beeline to the Mountain Falls information center as soon as he learned about the William Lyon Homes golf course community in the Pahrump Valley.
"I'm a golfer so my ears perked up when I heard about Mountain Falls," Herron said. "I immediately started visiting and speaking with the sales agents. I wanted to be on a fairway, and the home had to be just the right size. I got both and it's perfect."

He purchased a 1,970-square-foot floor plan in Tramonto, one of three single-story neighborhoods.
"The size is ideal," said Herron, whose home has a three-car garage and three bedrooms, one of which he utilizes as an office, den and exercise room. "I absolutely love it. Every morning I wake up and look out over the golf course from the bay window in my master bedroom. I've got a view of Mount Charleston and the waterfall that sits between holes 13 and 14. It's unbelievable."
The new homeowner also opted for every upgrade offered.
"I got such a great value on my home that I couldn't pass up the options," he said. "I went for everything from upgraded carpeting to ceiling fans, plus upgraded appliances. I even have a wine chiller."
Come Sundays, Herron is focused on his golf game on the par-72 course.
"It has become one of the premier courses in the southwest," he said. "With the way the planners replaced the desert with lush grass and landscaping, it almost doesn't look like it's in the desert."
Herron said Mountain Falls' setting reminds him of Canada, where he was born.
"I miss Canada's mountains, greenery and trees, but Mountain Falls comes surprisingly close to resembling it. It reminds me of Banff in Alberta," he said. "When my brother and parents visit from Canada, they can't believe this place. They're amazed at the quality I received for the price I paid."
Resident amenities include a clubhouse with a fitness center, two pools and a water play area. A restaurant and lounge with banquet facilities and meeting rooms is open to the public. Neighborhood mini-parks and a four-mile walking trail are planned.
Prices for homes at Tramonto, as well as Cascata and Bella Sera, start in the low $200,000s.
To visit, take Interstate 15 to Blue Diamond Road and go west about 45 miles. Before reaching Pahrump, turn left on Manse Road, then proceed to Hafen Ranch Road and turn right, then left on Lakeview Drive and follow the signs.
The sales office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
