MoneyWorld agent balances fatherhood, career

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

There are seven husband-and-wife sales teams working out of Century 21 MoneyWorld's office near Anthem, and dozens more companywide. Among them are Art and Marsha Goldberg, who share their home with seven of her 10 children from a previous marriage.

Married for five years, Art Goldberg remembers his first date with his future wife, whose children lined up on the stairs that day to meet him. The youngest child was 3 years old at the time.

"It was like Bob Hope's `Seven Little Foys' movie -- all these faces staring at me," Goldberg said.

The youngest child is now 11 years old; the oldest is 33.

Marsha Goldberg has worked for Century 21 for about 10 years; her husband joined the firm last year. A former hearing aid sales representative, Goldberg wanted flexibility in his workday so he could help raise the family, which includes four teenagers at home.

The ability to be patient, as well as passionate about family and career are all in a day's work for Goldberg, who said the key is to be "organized."

"(My wife and I) typically get up at 5 a.m. and walk together for awhile, then she walks home and I finish up with a jog," he said. "There's a constant stream of people leaving for school and work beginning at 6:30 a.m. The kids make their own lunches for school the night before; I prep the coffee then.

"When the kids walk in the door, literally, the first question is, `How much homework do you have in how many subjects?' They keep us apprised of things they need for projects and we allocate time on the computer. We usually eat together as a family at 5:30 p.m., but sometimes it's in shifts depending on what's going on. Then, at 10 p.m., we put our feet up, breathe a sigh of relief, and say, `Wow, we made it though another day.'"

Similarly, the realty firm has "excellent processes in place for everything," Goldberg said.

"We've got an incredible relocation department, customer service and a connections department where we obtain services when clients move into a new home," he said. "Most importantly, the owners -- Mike West and Michael Donovan -- have a strong commitment to their agents and their clients."

Andy Hrycyszyn, assistant branch manager of the Century 21 MoneyWorld office where the Goldbergs are based, praised Art Goldberg.

"You can see in his work why he would be a good father," Hrycyszyn said. "He's detail-oriented and very patient, although he makes his point obvious to the conversation, which is important in a father figure."

The couple's office is located at 9230 S. Eastern Ave. in Henderson.
