Aliante charms former Utahans

When former Salt Lake City residents John and Sunee Redd searched for their first home in Southern Nevada, they looked throughout the northern valley before finding the home and lifestyle they wanted for their family of five at Aliante, a master-planned community in North Las Vegas.

"We considered lots of options, but found that we like the added measure of quality, care and amenities you find in a master-planned community," said John Redd, a pharmaceutical sales representative. "We were very impressed by the amount of open space, the vast recreational features and the selection of homes."

The Redds chose a home at KB Home's San Destin Tivoli neighborhood.

"We like the spacious and open feel of our home. In fact, it reminds us very much of a home we had owned in the past, and it accommodated our furnishings very nicely," he said. "The included features were also impressive to us, such as the nine-foot ceilings on the main floor, the ceramic-tile counter tops and other features that may otherwise have been considered upgrades. We felt it was a very good value, considering the size, design and location of the home."

He said they also like the community's current and planned amenities.

"We enjoy having outdoor activities such as tennis and golf, within such a short distance of home. We're also looking forward to the future retail shopping. ... In time, we'll have just about everything we need on a daily basis, right here in our own community."

Encompassing 1,905 acres, Aliante comprises all-ages and age-qualified villages, which will collectively have as many as 7,500 homes.

In addition to KB, builders in the all-ages village are Del Webb Corp., D.R. Horton, Pardee Homes, Perma-Bilt Homes and Pulte Homes. Del Webb is also developing the age-qualified Sun City Aliante.

Homes are priced from the low $200,000s to the $700,000s.

Nearly 430 acres are designated for recreational and public purposes including the municipal Aliante Golf Club, 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, trails and an arroyo.

Additionally, plans call for three schools and about 100 acres of commercial development including a 40-acre resort with gaming.

Aliante is a development of North Valley Enterprises, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb.

An information center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit then go south.
