-- The National Association of Home Builders' Research Center announced that the KB Home Las Vegas Division is one of the first two builders in the nation to earn quality assurance certification as part of its National Housing Quality Program's pilot Certified Builder initiative. The program is designed to increase efficiency and consistency. KB shared the honor with a Maryland-based builder. -- Centra Properties appointed Charles Mitchener to be president of Centra Construction. Mitchener is responsible for all phases of construction operations throughout the Las Vegas Valley. He has 30 years of construction experience, and was vice president/general manager for Panattoni Construction in California. Mitchener also served as project manager for Kitchell Contractors, where he handled preconstruction services and project management for retail and medical facilities. -- JMA Architecture Studios was honored by the Southern Nevada Human Resources Association as a "Best Place to Work." The award for the midsize division was presented to Thomas J. Schoeman, president. -- Tony Illia was named to the board of directors of the Construction Writers Association, an Illinois-based national group. He is the editor of Nevada Contractor, a monthly trade newspaper. -- Kirk Klaholz of Stoltz Management Co. represented Hughes Airport Center in its five-year lease of 10,382 square feet at 250 Pilot Road, Suite 160, to Impact Companies for $1.15 million. -- Charles W. Witters of Lee and Associates represented HDR Engineering in its 96-month lease of 11,305 square feet at 770 E. Warm Springs Road from McCarran Center for $2.44 million. Witters and David Flynn represented DHI Mortgage Co. in its 36-month lease of 7,268 square feet at 8675 S. Eastern Ave. from Eastern Canyon Plaza, represented by Teri Schifano of Team Real Estate Services, for $498,715. Witters and Flynn also represented Siena V Holding Limited Partnership in its 60-month lease of 4,031 square feet at 2845 Siena Heights Drive in Henderson to Retina Consultants of Nevada, represented by Darren Lemmon of CB Richard Ellis, for $513,627. In another transaction, Flynn represented Lisa Dale in her purchase of 7,288 square feet at 8960 W. Tropicana Ave. from Lynn Marie and Louis M. Picinich for $1.55 million. Witters and Flynn represented Pacific Hilltop in its sale of 10,000 square feet at 2510 Anthem Village Drive and 10,000 square feet at 2514 Anthem Village Drive in Henderson to The Kelley Family Trust, represented by Larry Dwyer of Liberty Realty, for $2.37 million each. Witters and Flynn represented Sundant in the purchase of 10,700 square feet at 7611 Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson from Sandy Ridge, represented by B.J. Melvin of Mandalay Realty, for $2 million. Witters and Flynn represented Horizon West Business Center in its 60-month lease of 5,043 square feet at 880 Seven Hills Drive in Henderson to the Las Vegas Skin and Cancer Clinic for $594,382. Shawn Barashy represented 250 Mayflower in the purchase of 20,000 square feet at 260 Mayflower Ave. from S&K Partnership for $1.2 million. -- GVA Industrial Property's Dean Willmore and Art Farmanali represented both parties in Western Bar Supply's 63-month lease of 15,400 square feet at 3542 Sirius Ave. from Jonathan Park for $355,294. In another transaction, Jeff Barton and Richard Luciani represented Jennifer Park in the 62-month lease of 12,000 square feet at 530 Pamalyn Drive to Wright Angle Sets and Staging for $268,918. Bill Walsh represented Dennis C. Gomes in the four-year lease of a 7,967-square-foot office/warehouse building at 5965 S. Procyon Ave. to Patton & Patton for $239,973. Sam Scaletta represented Ironwood Communications in its 36-month lease of 4,330 square feet at 6185 S.
