Street of Dreams show scores big again at MacDonald Highlands

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

MacDonald Highlands has twice proved the ideal venue for the Street of Dream luxury-home show, according to Dave Straughan, president of Street of Dreams Inc. The community in Henderson first hosted the event in 2002; the show's current run ends next Sunday, June 20.

"Once again, MacDonald Highlands has provided a magnificent venue for Street of Dreams," Straughan said. "This is one of the most successful shows in our 18-year history, and we thank (developer) Rich MacDonald and his staff for the fabulous job they did in helping us make it such an exciting and memorable experience for our patrons. We especially thank the homeowners for their hospitality and willingness to host an event of this scale inside their community."

Visitors have been touring four multi-million dollar residences since May 15. Show officials estimate that about 50,000 people will have visited by the end of the show.

MacDonald, also a resident of the community, said, "(Street of Dreams) hosted a private party for (residents) at our country club and then toured them through the show homes. Everybody had a terrific time and raved about the houses. It's nice to hear those kinds of reports from people already living in that caliber of housing.

"This show is going really well, which is great because we have so many residents living in the community now," he said. "It was a challenge in planning, but we worked it all out very nicely. The shuttles are working well and the guards are making sure no one wanders into the wrong front yard or out of the show area. Neighbors have said they're very pleased with how things are going."

The show homes measure from 5,400 to 9,500 square feet and provide views of the city, mountains and DragonRidge Country Club. The latest trends in design and technology are displayed by Christopher Homes, Merlin Contracting and Development, Sun West Custom Homes and Sunwood Inc. Luxury Home Developers.

MacDonald Highlands is located on the side of the McCullough Mountains. In addition to DragonRidge, the guard-gated community features 10 custom-home neighborhoods, three parks and five miles of fitness trails.

Street of Dreams is open Tuesday through Sunday and closed on Monday. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with ticket sales stopping at 6 p.m. except on Thursday, when the show is open until 9 p.m. and ticket sales end at 8 p.m. Adult admission is $12 on weekends and $10 on weekdays. Visitors age 65 and older and ages 4 to 12 receive a $2 discount on admission. Children 3 and under are admitted free.

To tour the residences, take Interstate 215 to Valle Verde Drive, go south to Horizon Ridge Parkway, then follow the signs to the parking area. From there, take the free shuttle to the homes.
