Del Webb breaks ground for recreation center in Henderson
Del Webb broke ground last week for a second recreation center at the age-qualified Sun City Anthem community in Henderson. "Del Webb's goal is to keep pace with the growth of the Sun City Anthem community and continue providing a first-rate lifestyle, recreational facilities and amenities. We are proud of our relationship with our residents of the Recreation Amenities Committee who partnered with us in developing the plans for this unique center," Division President Chris Haines said. The 25-member committee worked with company employees for a year to develop a list of needs for the 35,865-square-foot center, which is set for completion next spring. Highlights of the $8.9 million facility will include a 4,200-square-foot fitness center; a multipurpose room; woodworking shop; arts and crafts, and card rooms; speaker's hall; performing arts facility with auditorium seating and a stage; gallery with billiards; and kitchen. In addition, the facility will house a Community Services Center, which will provide a base for resident groups such as the emergency preparedness committee, security patrol and service club. The community already is home to the Anthem Center, a 77,000-square-foot facility which provides recreational, social and fitness opportunities for residents. It also features Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public. Additionally, the Revere at Anthem Golf Club offers two 18-hole championship courses. "The residents and their activities are the lifeblood of Sun City Anthem. With the success of the Anthem Center, it is only natural to expand our facilities in order to accommodate our more than 40 clubs and organizations and ever-growing population," Bill Diveley, association vice president, said. Twelve home designs are available, ranging from 1,496 to 3,175 square feet. Prices start from the mid-$370,000s to the low $650,000s. All homes utilize the Environments for Living building technology with energy-saving features such as low-e windows and blown-in cellulose insulation. They have earned the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star label and offer a three-year heating and cooling energy-use and comfort guarantee. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, turn left on Anthem Parkway and then turn right on Alexandria Drive. Models are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Del Webb is a subsidiary of Pulte Homes Inc., one of the nation's leading home builders. It also offers the age-qualified Solera at Anthem and Sun City Aliante communities in Henderson and North Las Vegas, respectively, as well as the all-ages Club Aliante in North Las Vegas.
