New traffic signals installed in Summerlin
The city of Las Vegas and The Howard Hughes Corp. recently celebrated the installation of a new set of traffic lights at the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Hualapai Way in Summerlin. The signals were switched on by Las Vegas City Councilwoman Lynette Boggs McDonald and John Potts, vice president of land development for Hughes Corp. "The growing development of Summerlin's southern half has made this intersection one of the busiest in the master-planned community," Potts said. "These lights will make the intersection safer and move traffic through quicker." More than 17,000 vehicles pass through the intersection daily, according to Potts. Summerlin has ranked as the nation's best-selling master-planned community eight of the past nine years. It is comprised of villages and aligns the western edge of the Las Vegas Valley. The community is home to two Tournament Players Club golf courses, a Jack Nicklaus-designed Bear's Best course and five others. It is also home to 12 major parks and more than 80 neighborhood parks, more than 45 miles of trails, 16 schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, business parks, medical centers, and nearly 150 model homes. Houses, townhomes and condominiums are priced from under $100,000 to more than $700,000. Custom lots from one-quarter acre to three-quarters of an acre are priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $1 million, and predesigned custom homes are priced from $500,000 to more than $1 million. Apartments offer monthly rents starting from the $700s. To visit the home finding center, travel west on Sahara Avenue past Hualapai Way to Town Center Drive. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara. The office is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
