Siena readies for debut of community's golf clubhouse

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

The public is invited to celebrate next Saturday's grand opening of the golf clubhouse at Siena, an age-qualified community in Summerlin. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., guests can enjoy Italian-themed festivities that will include a live band, wine tasting, prize drawings, and refreshments from Siena Bistro.

Additional activities will include a golf challenge and a hole-in-one contest for a BMW 525. Golf equipment manufacturers will be on hand to showcase their latest products.

"We are so excited about the grand opening of this fabulous facility," said Clay Meininger, general manager at Siena Golf Club. "Not only does the clubhouse complete the Siena Golf Club, it is also another wonderful gathering place for the residents of the community of Siena."

The new 13,500-square-foot clubhouse anchors the Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley-designed, 18-hole, par-72 championship course, which overlooks the city and a small lake. The course features waterfalls and six lakes, and is complemented by a two-tiered practice facility.

Siena Bistro, a restaurant, is open for breakfast and lunch daily from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A twilight menu is offered from 2 p.m. to dusk. The eatery is also available for special events, and can accommodate as many as 150 people.

A pro shop is also open.

The daily fee golf course is open to golfers of all ages, however Siena residents are given special rates and preferred tee times. Special summer rates are available for Nevada residents, according to Meininger.

"We right now are featuring $49 rates daily with $35 twilight rates for residents and 14-day advanced tee-time bookings. Also, Nevada residents may purchase a Players Card that will entitle the holder to additional savings and specials," he said.

Next on the construction schedule is the community center. Ground will be broken in early summer for the facility, which is designed to feature a dome-shaped lobby and a grand ballroom. The ballroom will host special events such as theater productions.

The new facility, which is expected to open next spring, will also house a cyber café, business center, arts and crafts areas, as well as card and game rooms. Meantime, an interim social center is open with a computer lab, billiard and card rooms, and a sewing center. A full-time activities manager is on-site.

The guard-gated community also has a 15,900-square-foot health and fitness center with a 25-meter indoor pool and spa, as well as an outdoor pool and spa, lighted tennis and bocce courts, and a full-service salon and day spa. Cardiovascular and weight-training equipment are available, as are private saunas, steam rooms and a wellness center overseen by Summerlin Hospital Medical Center.

Siena also provides a security patrol.

The 665-acre community offers six collections of homes and 18 single-story floor plans, measuring from 1,040 to 3,100 square feet. Homes are priced from the $140,000s to the $650,000s. Three exterior designs are available with each plan, while select plans offer courtyard fireplaces and casitas with separate entrances. Interior designers are on-site.

The Portofino Collection is the newest residential offering. These attached homes are available in four floor plans, ranging from 1,040 to 1,378 square feet and priced from $144,500 to $169,700.

At least one resident of each home must be no younger than 50 years of age.

To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive, go south to Siena Monte Avenue and turn left. The models are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
