Free landscape classes slated
The Desert Demonstration Gardens will offer several free classes this week. They will all be held at the Gardens at 3701 Alta Drive, just west of Rancho Drive. At 8 a.m. Tuesday, "Birds in the Garden Tour" will be presented. Rita Schlageter of the Red Rock Audubon Society will offer advice on how to spot birds in the Gardens and how to attract them to a landscape. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars. "Beauty on a Budget" will be presented at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Master gardener Glenn Danner will advise how to have a beautiful landscape and garden without spending a bundle of money. At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, music and dance performances by local artists will be featured during "Tune Up the Night." Reservations are not necessary for the above events. However, advanced reservations are required for next Saturday's "Understanding Drip Systems" and may be made by calling 258-3205. Scheduled at 9 a.m., the class will address the installation, maintenance and scheduling of water-efficient drip irrigation systems. The Gardens is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. |
