Pete and Millie Giacomi explored housing options in California, Utah and Nevada before finding their ideal lifestyle and home at Mountain Falls, a 1,050-acre golf course community by William Lyon Homes in the Pahrump Valley.
"By the time we went to Mountain Falls, I was beat from looking at houses in several states," Millie Giacomi said. "When we walked into the Bella Sera model we purchased, it had the 'wow' effect on me. The openness, the island workstation in the kitchen, the huge master bedroom with two walk-in closets -- that was it, our search was over.

"I had the check ready to go in my pocket and the rest is history. We are thrilled with the peaceful and beautiful surroundings with snow-capped Mount Charleston in the distance. We found an incredible value."
The couple selected Plan One, a 2,495-square-foot design that can be built with three or four bedrooms and 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 baths. Exterior highlights include a courtyard entry and a three-car tandem garage. It is priced from the $300,000s.
After selling their home in California, the couple decided to discard their possessions and decorate their new residence from scratch.
"We didn't bring a teaspoon or towel from California," Giacomi said. "We gave everything away, and just picked up and left so we could start over. Pete is retiring and I decided to get a job waitressing just so I could meet people and learn about the community. It's wonderful here."
The home's backyard is large enough to accommodate the patio furnishings and swimming pool the couple added.
"Everything in this home, inside and out, is exactly how we envisioned it," Giacomi said. "We chose the granite that was showcased in the model, included a dry bar between the kitchen and the great room, added (a sound system), and opted for the built-in cherry wood media center. Between our pool in the backyard and the beautiful water features that we see on the golf course, when we leave or come home we couldn't ask for more."
The Giacomis say they hope family and friends will join them in moving to the community.
"All I do is brag about how great it is here," Giacomi said. "My sister would like to buy at Mountain Falls, as would a friend. I take our visitors to the models and point out the options. They laugh, but that's how much we love it here."
Bella Sera is one of three single-story neighborhoods at Mountains Falls. The others are Cascata and Tramonto, where prices start from the low $200,000s.
Mountain Falls Golf Club, an 18-hole parkland course, anchors the community.
Residents will have use of a community clubhouse with a fitness center, two pools and a water-play area.
A restaurant and lounge with banquet facilities and meeting rooms, located within the multi-use facility, is open to the public.
The community is also planned to include neighborhood mini-parks and a 4-mile walking trail.
The information center is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
To visit, take Interstate 15 to Blue Diamond Road and go west about 45 miles. Before reaching Pahrump, turn left on Manse Road, then proceed to Hafen Ranch Road and turn right, then turn left on Lakeview Drive and follow the signs.
