The Ridges village takes shape in Summerlin

The Ridges is beginning to take shape in Summerlin with the completion of its first custom homes and brisk sales of custom lots.

Currently, 16 lots are available, measuring from about one-half acre to three-quarters of an acre. Prices range from the high $300,000s to nearly $1 million.

Three for-sale custom homes are also available. They are: a 7,419-square-foot home built by PMR Homes, priced at $2.5 million; a 5,960-square-foot design by Six Star Construction for $2 million; and a $1.5 million, 5,310-square-foot residence by Executive Homes.

The Ridges is situated at the far western end of Desert Inn Road, west Interstate 215 and adjacent to the Spring Mountains and Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The first neighborhood under development in the guard-gated village is Promontory, which features an electronic gate and plans for a private park with a barbecue area and pavilion.

It is unfolding around Bear's Best Las Vegas, which features replications of Jack Nicklaus' signature holes from his other golf courses in the western United States and Mexico. Developed by ClubCorp and Golden Bear International, the high-end, daily-fee course opened for play in December 2001.

"The Ridges' commanding mountain and city views, coupled with its secluded location and unparalleled amenities make it a truly special place," said Dan Van Epp, president of The Howard Hughes Corp. "It's ideal for those seeking unmatched luxury in a natural setting."

Summerlin, a development of Hughes Corp., has ranked as the nation's best-selling master-planned community nine of the past 10 years. Its amenities include eight golf courses, nearly 100 neighborhood and village parks, nearly 100 completed miles of trails, 16 schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, medical facilities, cultural facilities and business parks.

Houses, townhomes and condominiums are priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $700,000. Nearly 100 model homes are open. Apartments offer monthly rents starting from the high $700s.

To visit the custom home and lot sales center, take Sahara Avenue west, past Hualapai Way, to Town Center Drive. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara.

The center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
