Councilman purchases new home in Pardee's Vista Verde
Las Vegas City Councilman Michael Mack said one of the reasons he bought a home in Pardee's Vista Verde community in northwest Las Vegas is because he "really likes the area." He should. Mack has been involved in the development of Centennial Hills for more than five years, first as a planning commissioner and now as the council representative from that ward. "Pardee has such a great reputation in the community that I jumped at the opportunity to buy a home from them in my own ward. Among the best features of these homes are the energy-saving and water-conservation elements," Mack said. The community showcases the builder's LivingSmart program, which includes environmentally sensitive features and options that are Earth- Smart, EnergySmart and HealthSmart. Available features include water-efficient landscaping, solar electricity, fluorescent lighting, tankless water heaters, low VOC paint and central vacuum systems. Mack chose the single-story Plan One for his family, which includes sons Austin, 6, and Aaron, 5. "The layout is perfect for us. The boys especially liked the large playroom area located between their bedrooms." The community will comprise as many as 900 homes, starting with the Aliso and Ventana neighborhoods. Priced from $177,950 to $219,950, Aliso offers four models with as many as five bedrooms and three baths. They measure as large as 2,566 square feet and include features such as great rooms, island kitchens, and optional lofts and bay windows. Ventana's four one- and two-story plans feature as many as six bedrooms in as much as 4,030 square feet. Homes are priced from $262,950 to $302,950. The single-story plans offer courtyard entries and an optional Nevada room. Floor plan variations include game rooms, teen rooms and workshops. Sales executive Rob Tuvell said new phases will be released at both neighborhoods this weekend. All homes have the builder's Energy Star/ComfortWise package and are independently certified to be at least 30 percent more energy efficient than federal standards require. Vista Verde also promotes the use of desert landscaping. Built around a demonstration garden, the model homes feature low-water-use designs, including those with artificial turf. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Durango Drive, go west to Oso Blanca Road and turn right. Turn left onto Severance Lane and follow the signs. The model-home park and sales office are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Monday, when they open at 11 a.m. Since 1952, Pardee has built homes for more than 25,000 families in Southern Nevada.
